My career in the Thoroughbred industry began by spending three years with the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association as the advertising manager for their publication, The Thoroughbred of California.
In 1968, I opened a brokerage firm, which specializes in the sale of Thoroughbred racing and breeding stock, both private and public auction sales. Our activities regularly include sales, insurance, appraisals, syndication, stallion seasons and shares and mating recommendations with clients in California, Kentucky and other location in the U.S. as well as England, Ireland, France, Japan, New Zealand and Austrailia.
During my forty years in the business, I have sold over 225 stakes winners worldwide. Some of the horses I have sold are: Forty Niner, Silver Charm, Charismatic, Rainbow Quest, Chief Bearhart, Captain Steve, Phone Trick, Old Trieste, Stardust Mel, Typecast and Dulcia.
As an auction sales manager in the U.S., I have handled the major dispersals for the estates of Fletcher Jones, George A. Pope, John J. Elmore and the major reduction of French owner Alan Clore's holdings. Most recently, we dispersed the racehorses for Howard B. Keck.
I am a member of the Jockey Club, a director of the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club and Kirk Horse Insurance Company.

Eastern, Southern, Midwest, Western, Canada | President of West Point Thoroughbreds, Inc., a racing partnership management company he founded in 1991, Terry Finley leverages over 20 years of accumulated institutional knowledge to guide his management decisions to better position his clients for success. His passion for racing ignited as a youngster while attending races with his father. While serving in the military, Finley incubated his business plan to provide unique emotional lifestyle experiences, enabling people of modest means to compete at the highest levels of horse racing. Finley grew the company from two investors and a $5,000 claiming horse in 1991 to over 500 investors and more than 80 horses typically under management. West Point horses consistently compete in the stakes and allowance levels, and he has overseen the development of six horses into Grade One winners and dozens of stakes winners. West Point runners compete in elite races including the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont and Breeders’ Cup World Championships.
With a value system influenced heavily by his father and the U.S. military, Terry Finley is a model of ethical behavior and determination. A former Army Ranger, captain, and West Point graduate, he seeks advisors and hires employees with proven professional credentials and demands the same ethics and standards from them. Business transparency is vital in securing trust and credibility with clients in accounting, communications, and operations, because clients rely on the managing entity to care for their animals and investments.
West Point utilizes top trainers and advisors including Todd Pletcher, H. Graham Motion, Tom Albertrani, Mike Hushion, Dale Romans, Dallas Stewart, Mark Casse, Craig Dollase, John Sadler, and Kip Elser.

I have the eye, contacts, and knowledge needed for you to successfully compete at tracks like Del Mar, Saratoga, Keeneland, etc, without having to spend a lot of money. Southern, Western | I have been in the Thoroughbred industry for 33 years. I am the President of Havens Bloodstock Agency, Inc. We have been the west coast's leading auction sales agency for 20 years with more horses sold at auction sales than any other agent. We sell at all sales in California and Kentucky; sales of weanlings, yearlings, broodmares and two-year-olds in training. We attend virtually all U.S. auction sales as a purchasing agent for clients.
I rode at the Southern California tracks during the 1970s - 1980s and was formerly the Assistant General Manger of the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association (until 1986).

Eastern, Southern, Midwest, Western, Canada, International | Barry Irwin gave up fiction writing in 1969 and left his native California to pursue a career in non-fiction as a staff writer for The Blood-Horse in Kentucky. In the next decade, Irwin spent a year in the bluegrass, went home to write for and later edit the Thoroughbred of California and pen the Southern California column syndicated in Daily Racing Form. He hosted a twice-weekly, two-hour radio program, as well as a weekly, one-hour television show.
During his career as a journalist, while covering racing, sales and horsemen on an international basis, Irwin reached a point where he wanted to be a player and not a writer. He had been able to pick up the fine points of the game from his unique position as an insider and as somebody who was able to ask a lot of meaningful questions of some of the Turf's greatest participants.
Irwin learned his lessons well. His first two runners won for Irwin while he still wrote for Daily Racing Form. Irwin left the Form at the close of the 1978 Del Mar meet to become a bloodstock agent. In the next decade, Irwin bred, raced, syndicated, bought and sold several hundred horses, including It's the One, African Sky, Moscow Ballet and Torsion.
After a decade in bloodstock, Irwin in 1987 zeroed in on the aspect of racing for which he felt most suited--operating a stable of syndicated racehorses. He formed a partnership with longtime friend Jeff Siegel and the rest, as they say, is history.
Irwin is a founding director with the equine-related charity “Race for Education,” which raises money to provide college scholarships to the offspring of backstretch and farm workers. In 2006, Irwin became the organization’s inaugural recipient of the “Valedictorian Award.”
In 2002, Irwin had his story about his favorite racehorse Swaps published by Eclipse Press as part of its biographical series of legendary racehorses.

In only nine years, LRF has become a market leader in Thoroughbred racing partnerships. LRF burst onto the scene in 2004 by winning the Grade I $1,500,000 Breeders Cup Mile with a modest priced colt named Singletary. By reducing risk and creating a network environment, LRF is living proof you no longer have to own 100% of a racehorse to feel like an owner in the Sport of Kings. On average, 50% of each partnership is made up of returning investors. The company is located in Los Angeles, CA and currently has barns in California, Kentucky, New York, Florida, and Pennsylvania.

Eastern, Southern | Mr. McMahon grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY where he worked on his family's farm, McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds. Following his graduation from Cornell University in 1993, Mike began his career in the horse industry with a visit to the Keeneland January sale and a job at Slew's Nest Farm. Impressed by the size, scope and international flavor of the Thoroughbred market in KY, he travelled to England as a groom and applied to the Irish National Stud, which he completed in 1994.
Following a summer with Hall of Famer Scotty Schulhoffer's Stable in Saratoga, Mike moved to Kentucky and worked for Robert Courtney's Crestfield Farm. After a 5-year stint at EQUIX Biomechanics, where he served as Vice President and helped to develop the company's popular stride analysis program, Mike founded his own business, McMahon Bloodstock LLC.
In the 10 years since, the firm's loyal customers have raced, bred and sold 94 stakes horses including 35 Graded Stakes horses, and NY's first KY Derby winner Funny Cide. This success has occurred despite the fact that the agency has one of the lowest average purchase prices ($59,000) of any major bloodstock agency. Two innovative offerings define the agency's upfront dealings. "Bourbon Lane Stable" offers new owners the opportunity to participate in professionally managed racing partnerships with no markup. The weekly "Bottom Line" quickly became one of the most popular innovations of the 2011 breeding season, selling more than 100 seasons in the 2011 breeding season.
Mike is married to Natanya Nieman DVM. The couple have two children Madison and Aidan, and live on Winstar Farm, where Natanya is the resident veterinarian.

Southern, Midwest | Jerry Walker, Brandywine Stables, LLC provides racing and breeding partnerships focusing on modestly priced horses that can compete favorably in state-bred programs. These partnerships are designed primarily for two types of owners:
1) New or prospective owners that want to start in the business by delegating responsibility for selecting and managing the racehorse to an experienced, professional manager while they are learning more about the details of the business.
2) More experienced owners that want to participate on a limited basis without taking full responsibility for selecting and managing the racehorse.
Brandywine partnerships are structured as Indiana Limited Liability Companies (LLC’s) with Brandywine Stables owning 25% interest and three other members, each owning 25% interest.
During more than 40 years in the horse business, Jerry has served in many leadership positions in various equine-related organizations including Chairman, Indiana Horse Racing and Breeding Coalition; President, Indiana Thoroughbred Owners & Breeders Assn.; President, Indiana Horse Council; President, Indiana Horse Council Foundation; and Chair, State Horse Council Advisory Committee of the American Horse Council.
Jerry is the recipient of several awards including the American Horse Council Van Ness Award, Honorary Indiana Commissioner of Agriculture and the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association's Indiana Breeder of the Year.
