John and Jerry Amerman

John Amerman first became involved in horseracing in 1987 when he answered an ad from the Team Valor syndicate.  He and wife Jerry branched out on their own in 1995, creating Amerman Racing, LLC and have since won 22 Grade I races.  Amerman Racing keeps about 20 horses in training with top conditioners including Bobby Frankel, Paul McGee and Dave Hofmans.

John and Jerry primarily acquire horses through private and yearling sales.  The Amermans also own the 63 acre Peacefield Farm in Temecula, CA, which serves as a rehabilitation center for both race and show horses and is managed by daughter Anne.

Among the top horses owned by the Amermans have been grade I winners Balance (Santa Margarita Hcp., Las Virgenes and Santa Anita Oaks). In Balance’s 11 career starts, she has earned six wins, one second and three third place finishes. Balance recently captured the grade I Santa Margarita Hcp. bringing her earnings to $900,159. Other grade I winners include Adoration (Breeders’ Cup Distaff and Santa Margarita Handicap), Lido Palace (Woodward and Whitney), Spoken Fur (Mother Goose and Coaching Club American Oaks), Printemps (Triple Crown in Chile for fillies), Siphonic (Hollywood Futurity), Happyanunoit (NZ) (Beverly Hills Handicap, Matriarch and Gamely), Mash One (two-time winner of the Clement L.
